Meals are an essential time in the day for our residents providing structure and social interaction. We pride ourselves on the attention paid to good nutrition.
Many residents require special diets for medical or maybe even religious reasons. Mount Pleasant is experienced in catering for a wide range of needs. For example;
Dementia - may require finger foods or soft/pureed diets;
Diabetics - require a varied healthy diet, rich in fruit, vegetables and starchy carbohydrates but low in sugar and saturated fat.
High Energy Needs – underweight residents may need fortified, high calorie, high protein foods that are not too filling.
Food Allergies and Intolerances – require diets with the problem foods or ingredient omission. Changes to preparation methods may be required.
A varied menu of good quality home-cooked meals using fresh produce delivered weekly by local sources and providers is provided. Meals are usually taken in the dining room but can be served in the residents own room if preferred. Residents may invite friends/relatives to accompany them for meals, by prior arrangement with the Management at no fee.
Morning coffees and afternoon teas are normally served in the Dining room with two sittings taking place, with appropriate gentle music playing in the background. If the resident has visitors, then this can be taken in the residents own room is required. All visitors will be offered refreshment’s at any time of visit.
Our Home takes each individual’s needs very seriously insuring that their likes and dislikes are taken into account along with nutritional needs. The residents are giving a menu choice of three options on a daily basis.
Dining at Mount Pleasant allows our residents to enjoy old favorites or explore newer taste preferences, and of course home baked sponges, cakes and fresh fruit are always provided daily.
We also encourage residents to enjoy a glass of wine, sherry or a small beer if this is their preference.
